We were proud to support Scottish Housing Day 2025, embracing the importance of good neighbours and sustainable communities.
Scottish Housing Day is an annual event which aims to raise awareness of the challenges and successes in Scotland’s housing sector
To celebrate the occasion, we held two events showcasing the importance housing plays in our communities.
The first took place at our Duncan Street development in Greenock, where we are delivering 64 new homes close to the town centre.
As part of our commitment to the local community, we have donated materials to Belville Community Garden Trust, a volunteer-led charity focused on bringing community groups and individuals together in the east end of Greenock.
The trust promotes a safer, stronger community and works to improve lifestyles and health, primarily through gardening, horticulture and healthy eating.
Representatives from Belville Community Garden Trust and Inverclyde Council attended the site to hear how local construction projects can benefit the wider community.
Councillor Paul Cassidy, Inverclyde Council’s Vice-convener of Environment and Regeneration, said: “What better way to celebrate Scottish Housing Day than by visiting one of our newest housing developments here at Duncan Street in Greenock and seeing the excellent progress that’s being made.
“We’re proud to be supporting our partners Sanctuary in transforming this prime site, which previously housed Greenock Health Centre, into a community of 64 new affordable homes for social rent which are due for completion in spring 2026.
“It’s also heartening to see Sanctuary embracing community benefits and looking at ways in which this important and exciting development can support the wider Inverclyde community.”

The second event took place at our Myreside Street development, in Glasgow, where we are building 126 new homes in partnership with local house builder AS Homes.
The development was designed to respond to Glasgow City Council’s housing emergency and the critical need for more family housing. Almost half of the site is made up of larger, three and four-bedroom family homes, to help alleviate the growing crisis of families in temporary accommodation in the city.
Representatives from Glasgow City Council and AS Homes visited the site and spoke with customers who have taken keys to their new homes.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing and Development at Glasgow City Council, said: “The building of high-quality homes that meet a wide range of needs for people and families is key to creating successful neighbourhoods, and we work closely with partners across the housing sector to ensure that as many such homes are built in Glasgow as possible.”
Gillian Lavety, Sanctuary’s Development Director for Scotland, commented: “Our mission is to deliver new homes and sustainable communities where people choose to live.
“Scottish Housing Day is a timely opportunity to reflect on the importance of that commitment and celebrate the strength and positive impact of our local communities.”
