New Cumbernauld breakfast club is going down a treat

Sanctuary staff and volunteers at the free breakfast club in Cumbernauld

Sanctuary staff and volunteers are stepping up to the plate to run a free breakfast club in Cumbernauld.

We’re serving hot rolls and refreshments from the kitchen of St Mungo’s Parish Church for three hours every Thursday.

It’s a perfect place for local people to chat, relax and enjoy some sausages, eggs and potato scones. Our funding also enables us to provide those who attend with tea, coffee, orange juice and cereal.

Tim Daly, our local Community Connector, said: “We’re in a neutral space where people can talk openly and enjoy some breakfast.

“I’ve wanted to do something like this for a while and had been looking for the right place with the local MP Stuart McDonald.

We give people a nice warm welcome and were already getting to know how our regulars like their tea.

“The volunteers are amazing, professional and create a great atmosphere. I couldn’t ask for a better team.”

The Cumbernauld and Carbrain Community Hub Breakfast Club runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm every Thursday.

It’s taking a festive break on 29 December but resumes on Thursday 5 January.

Sanctuary staff with selection boxes that they delivered

Meanwhile we’ve handed over dozens of selection boxes to the Cumbernauld and Carbrain Community Hub. Our housing staff Lynn Alexander and Jade Fontana recently delivered the chocolate to the Hub’s Frances Park.
