Warm Home Discount Scheme helps low-income families

Help is at hand for some low-income households with £150 off electricity bills this winter.

The Warm Home Discount Scheme is given automatically to people on certain benefits, while others will have to apply. However, the money doesn’t come to you directly – it goes to energy suppliers who’ll knock it off your bill before 31 March 2023.

You qualify automatically if you get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit.

If you don’t, but you’re on a low income and get certain benefits, you may be able to apply directly to your electricity supplier. Your supplier decides who can get the discount. The number it can give is limited, so check with them as early as possible to see if you’re eligible and how to apply.
