Sanctuary Scotland
The Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) is recruiting 16 new voluntary Tenant Advisors to ensure tenants’ voices are at the heart of housing regulation.
The SHR looks after the interests of more than 600,000 housing association and council tenants in Scotland. After bringing in its new regulatory framework, SHR is keen to make housing regulation easier to understand and more focused on what tenants need.
This is a great opportunity for Sanctuary Scotland tenants to share your views and help shape how the SHR works with landlords to improve housing services.
What does a Tenant Advisor do?
As a Tenant Advisor, you’ll:
Help influence decisions about housing services in Scotland.
Learn new skills and gain experience – no qualifications needed.
Check how landlords share information and services with tenants.
Review SHR guides and website to make sure they’re clear and easy to use.
Join group discussions with other tenants about housing services.
Share your views to help improve housing for everyone.
Volunteers will receive ongoing support and guidance throughout their volunteering role. They will also receive a small allowance and reasonable expenses like travel and childcare costs covered when carrying out Tenant Advisor work.
