The Blether café in Cornerstone Hall, Toryglen, has been a hit since it started three years ago, and is even more popular with residents this year.

From 10am to noon every Thursday, visitors can enjoy a free continental or cooked breakfast, served by a team of hard-working resident volunteers.

Volunteer Sharon McLafferty said: “Our team has done all the cooking since January. The whole thing takes lots of time, but we manage it and enjoy it.

“Our feedback form has been really helpful, and we’ve had such a positive response from the local community, from young families to older people. We’re seeing more than 100 people turn up on some mornings, and it’s great to give them something to look forward to.”

The group also runs a ‘food share’ donation project as part of the morning, where you can bring your own food to donate, or instead donate some money. Anyone can then take up to three items away to help you feed your family. The money raised helps pay for people’s continental breakfasts.

They also hold themed events on special occasions, such as Christmas and Easter, and run Bingo sessions on the last Friday of every month.
